To interlace the tapestry of the Mindanaoan folk life and traditions from its indigenous communities โ encompassing textile weaving, lakub, torogan, traditional music, bayok and street dancing - Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges - Marbel, Inc. collaborated with Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Kaisa sa Sining (KSS) Mindanao in a project of compiling these art forms in one book โ BAHANDI. The commencement of the book launch took place at Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges, Elda R. Millado (ERM) Theater on May 2, 2024. It was a momentous event that brought the spirit of Mindanaoanโs pride in our own folk culture.
The bookโs unveiling was witnessed by various guests, including Gensan City Counselor Jane Rivera, Ms. Bahandi Executive Producer Chinggay Bernardo, Bahandi Editor Dr. Christine Godinez-Ortega, and many more. In attendance was also our college president, Ma'am Ma. Andrea Patricia M. Millado, MBA, MA, MPMA, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Kristoffer Franz Mari R. Millado, RMMC-Gensan Executive Assistant for Admin and Finance, Sir Johann Sebastian M. Millado, MBA, and RMMC-MI Staff. At the said event, Helubong Scholars of RMMC-MI, Teatro Ambahanon of RMMC-Gensan, and the Kambayoka Ensemble of MSlJ-Marawi showed a display of their rich culture of the Mindanaoan tribes in their performnces. Bahandi encapsulates the rich culture and heritage of Mindanao encouraging us to take pride in it. This is a project collaboration of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, CCP Kaisa sa Sining Mindanao, and Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges-Marbel โ a member of KSS since 2019. The program was headed by the socio-cultural director of RMMC-Gensan, one of the authors of BAHANDI, and the project director of the book, Leonardo Rey S. Carino.
