Flashing lights. Beating drums. Racing hearts. Smiling faces. These are just a few of the thousand phrases to describe the Balik Eskwela 2024 experience of RMMCians at the South Cotabato Gym and Cultural Center on February 2, 2024. The audience, composed of the faculty, staff, and students of the different departments, turned into a choir singing a symphony of cheers and screams as the selected student performers from the various departments burst forth as they performed the opening salvo that left everyone in awe. RMMC-MIβs homegrown talents reminded us why we are βHome of the Bestβ for a particular reason. We are letting our bodies grow and improve β physically, emotionally, and mentally. Dr. Albert P. Balongoy, Vice President for Academic Affairs, graced the program by extending a warm welcome as we board the second semester's journey.
In his opening remarks, he emphasized a wisdom that deals not only with the significance of academic persistence but also with the crucial need for cultivating one's mental well-being. In her message, President Ma'am Ma. Andrea Patricia M. Millado, MBA, MA, highlighted the importance of having a good relationship with each other. She emphasized the importance of mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation as key pillars for building a harmonious and successful community. As the Bench Yelling competition unfolded during cheers and anticipation of the audience, the atmosphere of the venue was filled with excitement as each department poised to showcase their well-prepared performances coupled with frolic spirit and camaraderie in a battle of wit, vocal prowess, and choreography. With the help of our judges, Dr. Albert P. Balongoy, Sir Alfonzo Rafael M. Millado, and Sir Clarence C. Flores, LPT, the College of Teacher Education hailed the best among the rest of the contenders.
The Spoken poem performances were an eclectic mix of emotions, perspectives, and experiences, weaving together a tapestry of creativity that captivated the audience and sparked meaningful conversations. Each piece reflected deeply and offered glimpses into the hearts and minds of those who spoke with vulnerability and authenticity. The event served as a reminder of the power of storytelling. The program was concluded by the Rakrakan performance of the 10 AM SHARP band that completely energized the audience, leaving everyone with a sense of camaraderie and celebration with their rendition of the OPM songs that left everyone in LSS. Just like taking on a journey in the sea, Balik Eskwela opened our eyes to new wonders. We will see if we just open our eyes and appreciate the beauty of the world with our hearts.β
